The Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO), has notified XDS Solutions of its intention to make mandatory a new requirement for SASO Recognition Certificate. This is a new mandatory certificate affecting selected electricals exported to Saudi Arabia and will be required for shipment clearance at KSA Customs Ports and Borders alongside the SASO Certificate of Conformity (CoC).
The official deadline for compliance as set by SASO is 15th February 2018. However, we can confirm that currently SASO is not enforcing this new regulation whilst it finalises matters relating to operational processes, cost and validity of the Recognition Certificate.
An update, and firm enforcement deadline is expected imminently.
SASO Recognition Certificate – Products Affected
Currently, the following selected electrical products are required to comply:
- Mobile Devices
- Chargers for Mobile Phones and Parts
SASO Recognition Certificate – The Process
SASO will issue the new Recognition Certificate to selected electrical products based on a valid IECEE Test Report issued by a Certification Body Testing Laboratory IECEE approved lab, as well as a valid IECEE CB Certificate issued by a National Certification Body.
For firms who also export to Nigeria, comparisons can be drawn with the SONCAP Product Registration process.
