Additional products and Tariff Codes now to be added from September 2019
The Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) have advised that the implementation of Stage 2 and 3 of their Technical Regulation for Degradable Plastic Products has been postponed until September 2019.
Enforcement of Stage 1 of SASO’s technical regulation in April 2017 covered exporters and suppliers of plastic products to Saudi Arabia – including tablecloths, clothing bags, shopping bags and garbage bags.
Then in March 2018 SASO reduced the list of degradable plastic products required to carry the OXO-Biodegradable Mark to five, as shown in the table below:
Under enforcement of stage 2 and 3 on 1st April 2020 additional products listed in the table below, along with their associated HS Codes, will also be included:

The SASO technical regulation for degradable plastic products stipulates that all products matching the HS Codes in the tables above must be in compliance with the SASO Technical Regulation for Degradable Plastic Products and bear the OXO-Biodegradable logo below prior to export to Saudi Arabia:
