Important Water Consumption Label enforcement deadlines for exporters. Commencing January 2018, the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) will enforce new Water Consumption Label requirements for sanitary products and water flow control equipment (mechanical, electronic or sensing). This means that no SASO Certificate of Conformity (CoC) will be issued for products or equipment unless a SASO Water Consumption Label is provided.
Exporters must also make sure that the Testing Laboratory they use is accredited for SASO and international standards testing. In addition, that the product or equipment is registered with SASO before applying for the Water Consumption Labels.
Water Consumption Labels for sanitary products and water flow control equipment – Understanding the deadlines:
1st January 2018 is the date from which SASO will enforce the requirement. Any shipments without the required Water Consumption Labelling will still be accepted at port until 31st December 2017.
Scope of the products:
- General Water closets
- Water closet tanks
- Bidets
- Taps
- Shower heads
- Flusher taps
The registration Process:
- The sanitary product or water flow control equipment is tested and a Test Report is issued.
- An application is made online, resulting in issuance of a Water Consumption Label for the product or equipment.
- This process will typically take 2-3 weeks, from start to issuance of registration documents.
- The labelling is PER MODEL and is valid for 1 YEAR.
